Dave Van Horne Ford C. Frick Award Finalist

As expected, Marlins radio broadcaster Dave Van Horne is one of the top ten finalists for the Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting:

The Marlins' lead radio play-by-play announcer also has been one of the most respected voices in his industry.

And once again, Van Horne's voice is not going ignored.

The Baseball Hall of Fame has announced that Van Horne is one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Ford C. Frick Award, the highest honor for a broadcaster. Joining Van Horne on the ballot are Billy Berroa, Skip Caray, Tom Cheek, Jacques Doucet, Lanny Frattare, Graham McNamee, Jon Miller, Joe Nuxhall and Herb Score. The winner of the Frick Award will be announced Feb. 1 and honored during the July 23-26 Hall of Fame induction weekend in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Best of luck to DVH!

If by chance Andre Dawson would get the call today from the Baseball HOF, there's a chance that two members of the Marlins organization will be honored in Cooperstown this summer. We'll know today at 2 PM if the Fish have turned the first half of that potential double play.
