The Marlins are in sweep avoidance mode. [shakes head]
Sean West is on the hill for the Marlins. West had a pretty decent outing in his last start going six innings, allowing six hits, walked three, struck out two but only allowed one run. As always with West, he has to get his off-speed pitches over the plate in order for his fast ball to be effective.
Mat Latos takes the mound for the Padres. Latos was very good in his last start going seven innings of two-hit ball, allowing no runs and walking no one. He is a three-pitch pitcher throwing a decent fast ball (94 mph), a somewhat effective slider and a change that needs some work. He is a rookie and the Marlins have never faced him.
Ichthyomancy really, really, is looking for a win.
Best of Luck to You!
