Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Rockies at Marlins (8/16) - Game One

The data thing is all screwed up, so it is old school time.

The Marlins are going for the series win today in a game that will feature two sinker ball pitchers.

Chris Volstad takes the hill for the Fish. Volstad has fallen on difficult times of late. In his last two starts he didn't make it through 5 innings. Now granted, it wasn't all his fault since the defensive play was less than impressive which extended his innings. If Volstad can quit leaving his two-seamer up he should show improvement.

Aaron Cook is very good, but he is coming off the DL due to hurting his big toe. I don't know if you have ever hurt your big toe, but it messes up everything. Once again, Cook can be hit but he is unbelievable at working out of jams. Of course, that is when he is hitting on all cylinders.

Game time is 1:35 p.m.

Looking at the weather, we have a real shot of getting both of the games in.

There will be two open threads today since we have two games. I was going to suggest making independent picks, but forget that, I will find them.

Ichthyomancy is pretending to be ready.
