Chad James and Bryan Berglund signed

The Marlins reached an agreement with their first and second round draft picks.

The Marlins have signed first round pick Chad James, a right-hander out of Yukon (Okla.) High School. James agreed to a $1.7 million signing bonus and has passed a physical.

The Marlins also agreed to terms with right-hander Bryan Berglund, their second round pick (66th overall) out of Royal High School in Simi Valley, Calif., pending a physical. No word yet on the signing bonus, but Berglund departed for Miami late Friday.

The Marlins did go a little over slot in order to sign James but not enough to raise an eyebrow.  It sure beats the heck out of the Monday deadline passing and the Marlins couldn't sign either of their top draft picks.

Look for James to make the publicity tour, you know, introduced at a game, participate in pre-game drills, interviewed by the television folks.  The conference call will probably take place on Monday, if I had to guess.

Welcome aboard, Chad and Bryan.
