The Marlins won Sunday's game to split the four game series with the Diamondbacks and finish the seven-game road trip at 3-4. Preferably one would like to at least split on the road, but 3-4 isn't that bad considering how the Marlins played. Sunday's game was only the second time on the trip that the Fish scored first. In both games where the Marlins were first to score, they won. Maybe they should try that scoring first thing more often.
Josh Johnson was his usual self and shutdown the Arizona offense. Cody Ross, Jorge Cantu, Hanley Ramirez and Jeremy Hermida provided more than enough fire power to secure the win.
The Marlins finished at 46-44 good enough for second place in the division going into the All-Star break. They are four games behind the streaking Phillies, but will play a four-game set against Philadelphia immediately after the break. Needless to say, that will be an important series.
For now, the Marlins are in a very promising position in the NL East.
