Anibal Sanchez was once again placed on the 15-day DL.
The Florida Marlins placed right-hander Anibal Sanchez(notes) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday night because of shoulder discomfort. Right-hander Cristhian Martinez(notes) will be recalled from Double-A Jacksonville to take Sanchez’s place on the roster. Sanchez’s move is retroactive to June 3. Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said he anticipated promoting Ricky Nolasco(notes) to take Sanchez’s next scheduled start, Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. Sanchez (1-4, 5.55) came off the disabled list Tuesday and started that night’s game against Milwaukee.
And the fun keeps coming.
Don't know if Sanchez was rushed back from injury, but he sure showed up a lot earlier than anyone expected initially. Not to mention some less than impressive outings in rehab starts. (Meaning short outings.)
Ricky has done well in New Orleans, but it really isn't surprising to learn that Nolasco is too good for Triple-A.
What this probably does mean is that West will remain in the rotation for awhile, that is unless the Marlins decide to let the Hopper have the slot, which probably isn't going to happen.
So I guess the bottom line is that the revolving door that keeps moving pitchers in and out of the pitching staff, keeps revolving.
