Kiko Calero to the 15-day DL

Most of you already know this, but for the ones who don't, Kiko Calero was placed on the 15-day DL.

A busy season is taking its toll on RHP Kiko Calero, who was put on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, retroactive to June 18, with inflammation in his throwing shoudler. Calero leads the Marlins staff with 36 appearances – second among NL pitchers — over the team’s first 70 games.

"It’s nothing serious,’’ said manager Fredi Gonzalez, who said Calero felt discomfort in his most recent start Wednesday when he walks three batters in 2/3 of an inning.

"We think it’s going to be four or five days of no-throw. We can’t afford not to go with an extra guy in the bullpen. Doctor said it’s just a little inflammation. I expect him to be ready when the 15 days are up.’’

RHP Tim Wood was recalled from Class AAA New Orleans…

This isn't a good thing, but it doesn't sound serious.  Now the question will be when the swelling goes down, will he be the same as before?  Whatever the case, he shouldn't be used as frequently for the rest of the season.

This is Wood's second time up with the Marlins, maybe in this one he will actually get to pitch.
