The Marlins, once again, take to the road and find themselves in Colorado, for the start of a six-game, seven-day, road trip.
Nolasco gets the start tonight for the Fish. After his last couple of starts, the brilliance that can be Nolasco is just below the surface. You can see it, but it just hasn't emerge. Hopefully it will tonight. However, Coors is a tough place to get balls to break.
Hammel began the season in the bullpen and will be making his third start. He is a four pitch pitcher: fast ball (90-92 mph), slider (around 85 mph), curve (say about 77 mph) and a change (84 mph). So the speed differential is just on the edge of effectiveness, but it is on the correct side for the Rockies. Hammel faced the Marlins twice last season in relief.
If you are an old timer here at FishStripes, go by and say hi to very good folks at Purple Row, I'm sure they will be glad to see you. If you are new, go introduce yourself, they really are very nice.
This could be the first installment of the year of Midnight Baseball and Ichthyomancy is ready! The beer is bought, chips at the ready, the phone is off the hook, so let's make a night of it.
Best of Luck to You!
[Note] It just occurred to me that we have joined the brotherhood of beer stadiums and we are playing in our kin this trip. Coincidence? Irony? Something else?
