The Marlins placed Andrew Miller on the 15-day DL following the game.
Afterward, they placed Andrew Miller on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Miller started Monday and allowed four runs on five hits through 4 2/3 innings.
The problem arose during Miller's second of two relief appearances (April 11) before he joined the rotation.
To replace Miller, the Marlins have promoted right-hander Burke Badenhop from Triple-A New Orleans. Badenhop was scheduled to pitch tonight at Round Rock (Tex.). Instead, he'll be available to pitch in relief tonight before taking Miller's next start Sunday at Dolphin Stadium against the Phillies.
A strained muscle and pitching in the cold wet weather are never a good thing to combine. I will just leave at that for now.
Bring up Badenhop doesn't bother me in the least. He is a sinker ball pitcher and when he is on top of it, he does reasonably well. (Oh, in case you were wondering, VandenHurk is still on the DL.) But to start against the Phillies on Saturday, I don't know. Personally I would let Dan Meyer get the start since he is left-handed, but maybe your thoughts are different.
Which brings us to the question DStro (if you listen to 790 The Ticket you know her) wants me ask you:
