Hanley Ramirez and Cody Ross were held out of yesterday's game.
Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez was nursing a sore right shoulder, and right fielder Cody Ross was suffering tightness in his left calf on Monday. Both were scratched from the lineup against the Nationals.
Ramirez was icing his shoulder in the clubhouse before the game, but he gave a quick nod to indicate his shoulder is fine. Ross said he was only experiencing some soreness.
In case you were wondering Hanley had surgery on his left shoulder a year or so ago, therefore he didn't aggravate an old injury.
I promise I will one day quit harping on this, but it shows the difference between playing in spring training and playing in the WBC. If you feel you tweaked something, you sit out for a day, or if need be, more. This happens all the time. The games in the spring aren't paramount and all you are looking to do is get ready for the regular season.
In the WBC, the players treat like it was the World Series and no matter how they feel, they want to compete.
