Florida Marlins out of options

Juan C. Rodriguez gives the following information on his shared blog.

The Marlins have 11 players on the 40-man roster who have run out of minor league options. That's of greater consequence to some (Robert Andino, Dallas McPherson, Frankie De La Cruz, Leo Nunez) than others (Wes Helms, Alfredo Amezaga, Cody Ross).

I'm not going to go into the machinations of options at this point, but instead we will use the Reader Digest version.

If a player is out of options, and not rehabbing an injury, they can't be sent to the minors without first clearing waivers.  In other words, they can't be removed from the roster should another team claim them and the Marlins want to keep them in the organization.

There is a whole lot more to it than that, but that will suffice for now.

If you read the rest of Mr. Rodriguez's post you will learn that he thinks the final golden ticket will go to McPherson or Bonifacio.

Not sure I agree, but we will see.
