Florida Marlins announce Minor League Staffs

We already know about the Jacksonville Suns, now let's cover the rest.

First up the Zephrys.

The Florida Marlins announced the coaching staff Monday that will lead the New Orleans Zephyrs in the 2009 season.

Joining new manager Edwin Rodriguez will be pitching coach Scott Mitchell, hitting coach Steve Phillips and trainer Steve Miller.

Mitchell is entering his eighth season as a pitching coach in the Marlins' organization. He served in that capacity three of the past four years at Class Double-A Carolina, including 2008, when his Mudcats staff finished second in the Southern League with a 3.86 ERA. Mitchell spent seven years in the Expos' system before breaking into coaching in 2002.

Phillips is entering his fourth consecutive season as hitting coach for the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate, having spent the past three years in Albuquerque.

Second up the Grasshoppers.

The Florida Marlins announced Wednesday that Darin Everson will lead the 2009 Greensboro Grasshoppers on the field. The announcement was made by Marlins Vice President of Player Development and Scouting and Assistant General Manager Jim Fleming.

Everson will be joined by hitting coach Robert Bell and pitching coach Charlie Corbell. Athletic trainer, Julio Hernandez returns to the Grasshoppers for his second year.

Everson joins the Grasshoppers for his first season after two seasons as the field manager with the Jamestown Jammers. While in the New York-Penn League he compiled a 47-29 record in 2008 and a 28-47 mark in 2007.

Next up, the Jammers.

Darin Everson will manage Class A Greensboro after two years with the Jamestown Jammers. He'll be joined by pitching coach Charlie Corbell Jr., hitting coach Robert Bell and athletic trainer Julio Hernandez.

The Jammers, of the New York-Penn League, will be guided by former GCL Marlins hitting coach Andy Haines, with Steve "Doc" Watson (pitching coach), Frank Moore (hitting coach) and Patrick Amorelli (athletic trainer) making up his staff.

Finally, the GCL affiliate.

The GCL affiliate will have Jorge Hernandez as manager, Jeff Schwarz as pitching coach, Angel Espada as hitting coach and Masanao Fujimoto as trainer.

So there you have it, all of the coaches who will be guiding the young ones in the minors.
