Matt Treanor isn't completely shutdown but the team will use him sparingly, if possible.
Catcher Matt Treanor was available in an emergency but the team planned to avoid using him. Treanor left Sunday's game in the second inning after fouling a ball off his left knee.
While Treanor is the the only catcher the Marlins have who performs satisfactorily behind the plate under normal circumstances, in other words, when healthy. And that healthy part isn't going to happen down the stretch. So look for him to see limited to no action for the remainder of the season.
Tough break for Matty.
