Doug Waechter was placed on the 15-day DL and Logan Kensing was recalled from Albuquerque.
The Marlins put long reliever Doug Waechter, who is suffering from inflammation in his right shoulder, on the disabled list, manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Gonzalez described it as a precautionary move; Waechter is eligible to return Aug. 21. Waechter, 3-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 39 appearances this season, was replaced on the roster by right-handed reliever Logan Kensing, who had been at Class AAA Albuquerque. ---- Gonzalez said he'll continue to use Joe Nelson in long relief. Kensing will help in short relief. Actually I don't remember Nelson being used in long relief recently. I don't get to see every game so maybe I missed something. If Logan gets the normal call up treatment, he will have a good seat to see the games and a bump in pay, but his activity will probably be limited to warming up. Of course, this time could be different. I just find a little hard to fathom that Nelson will be regulated to long relief duty only. Could be wrong, I often am.
