Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla hurting

Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla finished last night's game in pain.

After treating the shoulder with ice during the course of the Marlins' 5-3 win in 11 innings, Ramirez said, "I'm fine."

Ramirez said he felt discomfort during a wild throw in the first inning on Nomar Garciaparra's slow grounder to short. While Ramirez threw the ball away, Garciaparra was credited with a hit.

During his second at-bat, Ramirez seemed to favor his shoulder after swinging and missing an 86-mph slider by Hiroki Kuroda

Of late, the 24-year-old has been icing his right shoulder.

And then there is Dan Uggla.

Uggla, who missed 11 games with a sprained ankle, jogged gingerly into second.

"It felt about how it looked," Uggla said.

And the team is sending these two guys to the All-Star game who clearly could use the four days off to recover?  I completely understand why the two players want to participate in the final All-Star game in the present Yankee Stadium.  But if the Marlins are going to allow that, at least sit them today and give one day of rest.  In case you didn't know, there is no rest for those who participate in the All-Star game.  It is a constant be here for the picture taking, sign baseballs until your hand cramps, conduct interviews with the press and so on and so on.....

At least give them one day off since a run at the playoffs doesn't work without them.  And anyways, Amezaga and Andino could use the work in the infield and should something happen the two All-Stars can enter in the later innings.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the Marlins restricted them from duty and all they had to do was tip their cap when they where introduced and announcer said "While voted in, they will not be playing due to injury."

Being the competitors that they are, it is probably the last thing they want.
