Florida Marlins transactions

In you were wondering how the De La Cruz transaction came about, and I was, it went like this :

5/25/08Recalled RHP Eulogio De La Cruz from Triple-A Albuquerque; optioned IF Robert Andino to Triple-A Albuquerque.

5/24/08Placed OF Brett Carroll on the 15-day disabled list with a separated right shoulder; recalled IF Robert Andino from Triple-A Albuquerque.

That's right, Andino got the chance to settle into his old butt print on the bench for all of one game.

But De La Cruz is no longer with the club .

After the game, Gonzalez said De La Cruz would be sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, and another pitcher would be brought up. In the doubleheader, the Marlins bullpen totaled 10 innings of work.

The Marlins will probably bring up another reliever since the team should return to the normal rotation schedule in the coming days.

Bringing up another pitcher means the Marlins will be going with 13 pitchers and 12 position players which gives Fredi a pretty short bench.  So look for pinch runners to be yesterday starters and Hendrickson, Olsen and Nolasco to get a few shots at pinch hitting.

Is this ideal, well heck no.  But rephrasing from the scene in Animal House when they are showing the potential candidates for membership into the frat:  We need the arms.
