Josh Willingham's non-catch

Josh Willingham demonstrated that sometimes catching the ball isn't an absolute necessity -- there are those times when just keeping it in the park is good enough.

 

Josh Willingham didn't have to think about it. He just smiled.

''Yeah, that's the best play I've ever made without catching the ball,'' he said.

Then he smiled again.

Why not?

The outcome wasn't settled, however, until after Willingham took a home run away from Nick Johnson, who was breaking into a trot when Willingham jumped and kept the ball from leaving the park.
