It's Friday, so why not a Flotsam and Jetsam post. I mean really, we don't get them often enough and anyway, Friday was made for surfing.
- Our buddy Sky at Beyond the Box Score is starting his series on understanding sabermetrics. Sky is a good teacher/explainer of the discipline and if the the topic interests you, give it a look see. You will be happy you did.
- Our good friend Photi at Fish Chunks links to a couple of articles about the history of Miami baseball. It is interesting reading and I will admit, I had no idea that there was a team called the "Miami Beach Flamingos". Live and learn.
- Our other good friend, Matt, is up to number 38 in his rankings of the Top 50 Marlins prospects. If you haven't been following along, now is a good time to catch up.
- Finally, Marlins GM, Mike Hill, runs a marathon, the right way. Apparently if you want to work in the Marlins front office you must be good at endurance events. And I'm guessing that being able to do more keg stands in a single night than anyone else in the crowd, doesn't count. But who knows, maybe it does.
And that concludes Friday's Flotsam and Jetsam.
