Party time - Zephyr style

Our new Triple-A club has unique way of throwing out the first pitch to start the season's  festivities.

The New Orleans Zephyrs have announced that their annual cocktail reception, "Evening With the Zephyrs," will be held on Jan. 20, 2009 at Pat O'Brien's on the River, from 7- 9 p.m.

Tickets to the event are available to the public, and will be $30 for individual tickets and $100 for a group of four.

The ticket price includes food and drinks for all guests, as well as a program of Florida Marlins - the Zephyrs parent club - and Zephyrs speakers.

Attendees must be at least 21 years of age.

Tickets to the "Evening With the Zephyrs" cocktail party can be purchased by calling the New Orleans Zephyrs at 504.734.5155.

Ah, Pat O'Brien's, home of the hurricane, I know it well.  Given it has been years since I have been there, and with any luck, the staff has turned over meaning I should be welcomed there again.

If you get a chance to go, GO!   It is a fun place and after the meeting spend some time in the piano bar (if that still exist), those ladies can play anything.  And after you get your get fill of hurricanes, walk (stumble) next door and checkout the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, you will be glad you did.

But reading between the lines, what this means to me, is that our Triple-A is going to suck if the Zephyrs are incorporating Bourbon St. (actually it is on St. Peter St., just off Bourbon St.) into the mix.

But rest assured the players will have the times of their lives, if they can remember them.
