Walking Wounded

Unfortunately the Marlins have added a couple of names to the walking wounded report which were accurately reported by mbaamin08 in the open thread last night.

First up: Josh Willingham.

Left fielder Josh Willingham is done for the season because of a herniated disk in his back. He said he does not expect to need surgery and added that he will be ready for spring training.

"It feels better since I haven't been playing on it for a couple of days," said Willingham, who last played Friday.

The other: Kevin Gregg.

A balky wrist has kept closer Kevin Gregg off the mound since Thursday. Gregg was able to throw before Tuesday's game without any discomfort and remains day-to-day. He anticipates undergoing an MRI this week to receive a clean bill of health going into the offseason.

Gregg has allowed runs in each of his past three outings, including four in Thursday's blown save.

"It's one of those things I thought I was going to be able to get through the rest of the year and I got to the point where I didn't think I could help the team," Gregg said.

Willingham is done and who knows about Gregg.  I'm not sure that I would expect Gregg to pitch again this season since there are only five games left and he has already proven his mettle.  It would seem to me that if the organization is contemplating re-signing him, they would want to hold him out. But I could be easily wrong about that.
