Transactions Galore

This could be going on for awhile, at least until the September call-ups.

After two appearances, the Marlins optioned right-hander Carlos Martinez to get steadier work at Albuquerque. Tuesday, Martinez gave up back-to-back homers to Ryan Howard and Aaron Rowand. His velocity still isn't at its pre-elbow surgery level.

After Wednesday's game, the Marlins called up right-hander Ross Wolf from Albuquerque to replace Martinez.

Martinez does need as much work as he can get to rebuild arm strength and the Majors isn't the place to do it.

Wolf is probably only up for a two game stint, and after that he will be sent down to bring up a starter, most likely Daniel Barone.

The shuttle between Albuquerque and Miami will be very active for about a month.

To handle all the changes to pitching staff the Marlins are adjusting the rotation.

Scott Olsen, originally set to start on Friday, instead will go on Saturday. The reason is the team wants to avoid pitching rookies on back-to-back days against the Mets. VandenHurk is slated to start on Sunday.

The big club is going to get a look at some of the young talent this season, which isn't necessarily bad, considering how the season is going.  But then again, it wasn't what we were hoping for at the start of April.  As John Wayne said it my favorite movie he made: Times change.
