Kim to rejoin the rotation

As Bumppo predicted in Sunday's Open Thread, Kim is expected to take Barone's spot in the rotation.

Byung-Hyun Kim is expected to rejoin the rotation within a week.

Gonzalez said the team is deciding when to start the side-winding right-hander but likely will pitch him either this weekend or Monday.

Rick VandenHurk and Dontrelle Willis will pitch the final two games of the Braves series and after a day off, Sergio Mitre will start Friday against Philadelphia. Kim likely will replace Daniel Barone in the rotation. Kim still could be used out of the bullpen today and possibly Wednesday.

It wouldn't be surprising if Kim were used out the bullpen in the next couple of days in order for him to continue to return to form.  When the Marlins acquired Kim he hadn't pitched for ten days and has only logged 2.1 innings since his return.

Moving Kim to Barone's spot is probably for the best.  Barone has already thrown 150.2 innings between the Minors and Majors this season which is his career high.  His previous high was 142.1 in the Minors last season and before that his high was 73 innings.  There is no reason, especially given how the season is going, to risk sending Barone on the Alabama trip.
