Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Dodgers (7/7)

Today is 7-7-07.  It turns out today is big for weddings, casinos, reelecting the "seven wonders of the World" and the Live Earth Concerts.  But those aren't the only events going on, there is at least one other and that one happens to be: the Marlins will try to win the series against the Dodgers tonight.  And it probably won't be easy.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Serigo Mitre.

The Dodgers will send to the hill, Derek Lowe.

Game time is 10:10 p.m.

This will be Mitre's first start in Dodger Stadium, though he has made a couple of relief appearances.   Sergio hasn't won a start since May 20th.  But that is far from his fault, in his last start he only allowed three runs in six innings on three hits.  The offense provided exactly 0 runs while he was on the mound.

Earlier this season when Lowe faced the Marlins he pitched 8 innings of shutout ball before he gave up a three-run game winning homer to Josh Willingham.  Lowe becomes more hittable around 100 pitches and righties generally have better luck against him overall.

Ichthyomancy is once again ready for midnight 2:00 a.m. baseball.  Thankfully this is all happening on a weekend.
