Johnson back on the DL

Josh Johnson was showing his 2006 form last night and then in the fifth inning things went awry.

The Marlins' 23-year-old right-hander experienced stiffness in his right forearm. Immediately after the Marlins lost, 1-0, to the Padres, the team announced Johnson will be placed on the disabled list on Thursday and center fielder Eric Reed will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.

This will be Johnson's second DL stint of the season.

Johnson is on the 15-day DL.

First off, this is not good for Johnson or the team.  There is also the possibility of that his season is over.  But hopefully, that isn't the case.

Reed being the call-up also adds an extra dimension, especially since he is a center field defensive specialist.  Which brings up the question: just exactly how hurt is Hanley?  If the Marlins just needed a spare outfielder, Brett Carroll was the best all around of the ones brought up from the minors this season.  Does this possibly mean that Ramirez won't be returning to short anytime soon?  Or, perhaps, I'm reading too much into this.

Either way, Reed is back and Johnson is on the DL, so expect to see Obermueller rejoining the rotation.
