Happy Fourth of July!
Or if you live on the other side of the International Date Line, Happy Fifth of July!
The Marlins evened the series last night and are looking to improve, but it could be a tall order tonight.
The Marlins starting pitcher is Josh Johnson.
The Padres will send Chris Young to the lump of dirt in the middle of the diamond.
Game time is 9:05 p.m., which is something the San Diego faithful are calling an early start.
Johnson is in the still trying to improve mode. He hasn't yet regained control of his pitches but hopefully he soon will. If Josh improves on his last outing, that is all the team is looking for. Expect the bullpen to get some work tonight.
Young is very good. If you have seen any of the broadcast by the San Diego crew, they are heavily promoting Young for the final slot to the All-Star game, and rightly so. The Marlins, on paper, are a little overmatched where the starters are concerned, but once again, we strangely win a lot of these.
If you get a chance, go and visit our good friends at Gaslamp Ball. Trust me, Dex and jbox will make sure you are treated right. I was going to comment in their Open Thread last night, but I was never sure what they were talking about. I guess I was a little late to the party.
