Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Reds at Marlins (7/21)

The Marlins evened out the series and will be looking to, at the very least, guarantee a split series tonight.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Byung-Hyun Kim.

The Reds plan to counter with Bobby Livingston.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Kim's biggest problem in his last start was he couldn't find the plate.  Expect to see Cincinnati put in every left-handed hitter they can find.  Kim's BAA against when facing righties is .193, as compared to his BAA versus lefties which is .294.  Treanor will probably be the starting catcher.

Livingston will be making his fourth spot start of the year.  He has spent most of the season in Triple-A and is a change up, sinker type of pitcher.  If the Marlins will go the other way with the ball instead of trying to pull it, they should be fine.  He has given up 25 hits in 17 innings in his previous three starts.  Oh, he is a lefty so look for Cody to start somewhere in the outfield.

It is the usual Super Saturday at the park, so that means giveaways galore.  Tonight's game will feature a Marlins clapper to the first 25,000 fans, which begs the question: why are a fair amount of the giveaways orange?  Last time I checked, the Marlins colors didn't include the color orange.  We are the South Florida baseball team, not the football team.  But enough about that before I go into diatribe that could last a week.  Also, if you are among the first 5,000 cars you will receive a Marlins gas can.
