Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Padres (7/2)

The Marlins are off on a West Coast trip and first up are the Padres for a four game set.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Sergio Mitre.

The Padres have David Wells on tap.

Game time is 10:05 p.m.

Mitre has had a tendency to leave the ball up in the hitting zone since his hamstring injury.  Hopefully, his hamstring didn't tighten up on the long plane ride to California.  Sergio faced the Padres earlier this season going 6 innings and only allowing one earned run.

Wells is an excellent at home pitcher but he does give up a fair amount of hits in his starts.  The key will be in making the hits count.  Wells also faced the Marlins earlier this season going 5.1 innings giving up 8 hits and allowing 3 earned runs.

The good news about the team going on the road, other than the Marlins have a better record on the road than at home, is that we get to see our buddies jbox and Dex and all the other Gaslamp Ballers.  Since we will be crashing on their couch for the four game set, be sure to say Hi.  I have no doubt they would love to hear from you.  In the SB Nation world, they are our best friends.  The address is Gaslamp Ball, where there is always a beer in the frig.

Ichthyomancy is ready for some midnight baseball.
