Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Cardinals at Marlins (7/17)

Since the strategy of losing the first game and winning the next two worked so well against the Nats, the Marlins decided to try it again for this series against the Cardinals.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Rick Vanden Hurk.

The Cardinals will send out Brad Thompson.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Vanden Hurk will be making his seventh start for the Marlins this season.  He was recently promoted to Triple-A and has been tearing up the league, which is saying something since the Isotopes are in the PCL.  I wish the Fish could leave him in the minors and let him go through the natural progression, but events have dictated otherwise.  He has never face the Cardinals in the regular season before.

Thompson started the season in the pen and was promoted to the starting staff in May.  He has given up more hits than innings pitched this season and serving up the long ball is part of his repertoire.  Saying all of that, he will probably look like Cy Young tonight.

Ichthyomancy is fair game.
