Garcia to get the call?

Vanden Hurk will probably be sent down today.  Yes, I know it doesn't seem fair, but that is the way these things work.  Mike Berardino is reporting that Harvey Garcia will take his place on the roster.

Reliever Harvey Garcia was in town and expected to be activated for Vanden Hurk in time for today's series finale.

Though he had a 6.23 ERA in six outings for Triple-A Albuquerque, Garcia's overall numbers this year are 2-2 with a 4.64 ERA in 24 games. He had 32 strikeouts and 21 walks in 33 innings.

Garcia, a Venezuelan who touches 97 mph with his fastball, came from the Red Sox in the Josh Beckett trade in November 2005.

Exactly what is he suppose to do, besides make his major league debut.  I guess the organization has something in mind but it's doubtful he will be mixed into the late innings which is where he normally pitches.  If you have a guess why he is being brought up, if indeed he is, I would love to hear it.

Oh, in case you were wondering Todd Linden was DFA'd in order to bring Vanden Hurk up.
