Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Pirates at Marlins (6/28)

The Marlins will be in home sweep avoidance mode once again.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Scott Olsen.

The Pirates have on tap Zach Duke.

Game time is 12:05 p.m.

The good new is: the Marlins have never lost an Olsen start against the Pirates.  Just to jinx this further, since that always seems to happen when I report good stats, the Marlins have won three of his last four starts.  Olsen, once he settled down, pitched well in his last outing and performing like the Olsen from the latter part of last of season.

Duke is a lefty with a lot of talent but just hasn't put it together this season.  The Marlins faced him earlier this season, on May 16, when he allowed only two runs in the seven innings he pitched.  The good news about Duke is he is one crappy day game pitcher, sporting an ERA of 7.71.

Ichthyomancy is ready and hoping to stay dry.  Whether or not this game will be played is iffy as I write this.  Rain is in the forecast but with some luck the two teams will be able to get the game in.  Oh, one tip for your Ichthyomancy attendance pick, today is camp day and about 21,000 camp kids are expected to be in attendance.  If you make it out to the game, the kids are enthusiastic but a little short on attention span.  But really, who cares, it's good to have a crowd of what may be future Marlins fans.

It's a day game, so make adjustments accordingly.
