Johnson Activated

Abercrombie sent down.

To make room on the roster for tonight's starter, Josh Johnson, outfielder Reggie Abercrombie was returned to Triple-A Albuquerque after Sunday's game.

Abercrombie, who spent all of last season with the Marlins, hit .212 with two homers and five RBI in 20 games since his May 9 recall.

"To me I'm getting better," Abercrombie said. "It's a business, man. I'm straight with it. It's cool. I'll just go back down and get to play."

Perhaps Rotoworld said it best:

It seemed like this was coming when the Marlins opted to promote Brett Carroll. The move frees up a roster spot for Josh Johnson, who will start on Monday. Abercrombie hit .212/.246/.333 in 66 at-bats for the Marlins. He was at .212/.271/.333 in 255 at-bats last year, so at least he's got the whole consistency thing down.
