Walking Wounded

A quick report and an update on some of the nine members of the team who are on the DL.

Anibal Sanchez is playing catch, but the right-hander remains a ways away from being ready to pitch again.

The Marlins optioned Sanchez to Triple-A on May 4. Shortly afterwards, the 23-year-old said that his right shoulder was sore and he went on the Minor League disabled list.

For now, he is doing basic throwing and catching, but nothing more.

Sanchez is not expected back until after the All-Star break.

Not good news, but it isn't surprising either.

Henry Owens continues to look sharp in A ball.

Reliever Henry Owens, tossing a rehab assignment inning for Class A Jupiter on Tuesday night, allowed one hit while striking out two at Roger Dean Stadium. The right-hander, on the DL with a sore shoulder, is expected to return to the Marlins within five days.

I assume Owens will be worked in very slowly when he returns to the club.

Man, I am so out of time.  Click on the following link for info about Josh Johnson, Carlos Martinez, Logan Kensing and Cody.

Johnson's road back

One quick note before I go: it is great that Josh was able to throw pain-free yesterday.  But the real test will be whether or not he is hurting today.
