Lindstrom throwing a "blood ball"

The team needs to add a manicurist to the staff.

Matt Lindstrom summoned the trainer during his eighth-inning appearance Monday. When throwing his slider and split-finger, sometimes Lindstrom cuts the top of his thumb with the nail of his index finger. He did it three times Monday.

"It opened up pretty good," said Lindstrom, who bites his nails and sometimes leaves rough corners. "The only reason I stopped the game and called them out there was the blood was on my hand. I said, Do I need to do something about this?' I have stubby thumbs and they tend to get in the way."

Wow.  Look Matt, if you want to wet the ball I'm sure the team can get Gaylord Perry on the phone and he can give you some better suggestions than bleeding on the ball.
