Bowling for a good cause

If bowling is your thing and you live in the Chicago area, this is worth looking in to.

Kerry Wood became the latest Cub to join in Derrek Lee's Project 3000 campaign to raise awareness for LCA, the genetic eye disease affecting Lee's 4-year-old daughter Jada.

Wood and his wife Sarah announced Tuesday that proceeds from his annual charity bowling tournament, which takes place July 22 at the 10pin Lounge, will go toward the fight against LCA.

Dontrelle supports the project.  First off, Willis is a good guy who is always willing to help out a good cause.  Also, it doesn't matter that Derrek wears a Cubs uniform, because if you were once a Marlin, you are always a Marlin and we help our own.

Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis also has donated more than $15,000 to Project 3000, including a $10,000 initial donation and additional donations based on strikeouts.

If you don't know anything about the disease and I'm guessing Fishfan24 is the only who does, it can be devastating.

Lee began the campaign last September when Jada was diagnosed with LCA, or Leber's Congential Amaurosis, which led to blindness in one eye. Approximately 3,000 Americans have the rare disease and significantly more people have been tested since Lee's involvement created national publicity.

If you live in or around the Chicago area, rolling some thunder for a worthwhile project may be right up your alley.  For more details go to:
