As HadMatter reported in the comments yesterday, Byung-Hyun Kim is expected to join the rotation on Friday.
New Marlin Byung-Hyun Kim did not arrive Tuesday at PNC Park until batting practice. He was then informed he will start Friday at Tampa Bay.
That was fine with Kim, who said he prefers to start despite having much better career numbers out of the bullpen.
Wes Obermueller will work in relief.
Uh, okay. The logic of doing this is somewhat confusing to me. Obermueller has been a very serviceable replacement starter. I'm not sure I get why he would to be sent to the bullpen and the team would insert Kim in his place. It just seems like it would be better to ease Kim in by placing him in the bullpen.
Perhaps I'm missing something.
