Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Pirates (5/14)

The Marlins continue the road trip today after getting off to a somewhat unpleasant start.  The Fish will be guests in the beautiful ballpark the Pirates call home.

The starting pitcher for the Marlins is staff ace, Dontrelle Willis.

The Pirates will counter with Tom Gorzelanny.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Willis has not lost to the Pirates since 2003.  Naturally, that doesn't mean the team has won all of his starts, but he does keep us in the game.

Gorzelanny is also a lefty and has pitched very well this season.  He has gone at least six innings in all of his starts, except one.  Gorzelanny could pose a problem to the Marlins hitters.

The good news is: the Marlins are second in the NL in OPS against lefties racking up a .857 total for the year.  The Pirates, however, are 15th with a .643 OPS against southpaws.  It is true that some of the Marlins success against left-handed pitching can be attributed to Cody but by no means all of it.

Ichthyomancy is ready for some action.  So be sure get picks in on time.
