Vanden Hurk was sent down after last night's game.
The Marlins, who optioned Vanden Hurk to Double-A Carolina and selected right-hander Nate Field from Triple-A Albuquerque, need the extra relief help.
Given that the Marlins have an off day on Thursday and the bullpen needs all the arms it can get, the Marlins brought up a reliever. This revolving door between bringing up a reliever and then sending him down in order to bring up a spot starter will continue until one of the starters comes off the DL. Of course, it could stop if the starters would pitch deeper in the games, say like, oh, maybe 5 innings, 6 would be better.
