Center Field announcement imminent

Fredi's announcement for the season starting center fielder is coming very soon.

Monday, manager Fredi Gonzalez said he would name his Opening Day center fielder no later than Wednesday. In addition, Gonzalez revealed he would use a platoon in right field until Jeremy Hermida (right knee bone bruise) returns.

The Marlins have three center fielders in camp: Eric Reed, non-roster invitee Alex Sanchez and non-roster upstart Alejandro De Aza. Gonzalez said his mind is not made up.

He has determined the center field situation is independent of the right-field platoon that probably will consist of Joe Borchard against right-handers, and Cody Ross or perhaps John Gall against lefties.

You know where I stand on the center fielder issue, which is, anyone but Sanchez.   Whomever "wins" the center fielder slot in the outfield will have no bearing on who plays right field, so the non-winners will be sent down.

This article didn't mention it but I did read elsewhere that Alfredo was also being considered for the third person in the platoon with Borchard and Ross.  So, if you are interested in the John Gall, Jason Wood competition, and I know some of you are, it is still murky at this point but the waters should clear up shortly.
