The flipped Yusmeiro Petit to Arizona for Jorge Julio.
The Marlins obtained Julio in exchange for right-hander Yusmeiro Petit, 22.
Julio was 2-4 with 16 saves in 62 appearances last season with Arizona and the New York Mets. He had a 4.23 ERA in 66 innings, with 35 walks and 88 strikeouts.
Petit was 1-1 in his rookie season with the Marlins. His ERA was 9.57.
The trade of Petit makes right-hander Sergio Mitre the Marlins' fifth starter.
I can't say I'm pleased about this. It seems to me to be a waste of a pitching prospect.
Maybe it will work out, I hope it does. But it still seems like an unnecessary trade.
Oh well, welcome aboard Jorge.
