Flotsam and Jetsam

We need to get caught up on the weekend's events, assuming you aren't caught up already.  So, I present to you the Monday edition of Flotsam and Jetsam.

In case you didn't catch Dr F's comment in the weekend open thread, Miguel Cabrera became the first player to win his arbitration hearing this season.

The weekend news also provided a couple of interviews.  The first being Sixty second with Taylor Tankersley.  It's mainly about him going out and killing a deer, but he does admit striking someone out in the eighth with the bases loaded is a better feeling.

The second interview is with David Samson, since it is president day, he does address his favorite U.S. president before being asked exclusively about the Iron Man.  Without a doubt, there is no point in my life I could have finished the challenge.  I would have most definitely drown in the ocean.  But if I would have completed the event, and been in his position, I would have at least the courtesy to lie and say: winning the World Series was a greater experience.

The coordinator of the master's in business journalism program at Florida International University doesn't think that public support of a stadium for the Marlins is such a good thing.  I'm afraid the team may be up against this kind of argument for some time to come.  Hopefully, they will be able to push past it.

Finally, yesterday was the start of the year of the pig.  Happy belated Chinese New Year to everyone!

And that is it for Flotsam and Jetsam for today.
