Marlins Preseason Sales Up?

Murray Chass of The New York Times, as reported by the Sun-Sentinel, had this to say.

According to MLB figures, every team currently shows an increase in ticket sales compared with the corresponding time the previous offseason.
(emphasis is mine)

Really?!

I find this hard to believe especially since Fredi and Scott Olsen were about the only ones who showed up for "Select-A-Seat".  In years past "Select-A-Seat" was a big deal, though not in the numbers other teams experience.  But still, for the Marlins it has been one of the biggest ticket promotions of the offseason.

Granted, this year's venture to increase ticket sales was poorly promoted and it followed immediately after the trade of Willis and Cabrera.  But that doesn't change the fact that almost no one went to the event.

I hope what Mr. Chass is reporting is true, and as Black and Teal so eloquently stated, concerning a different matter,: At least there would be some butts in the seats!

Let's just say, I have my doubts that the Marlins have shown an increase in ticket sales over last season at this point.

Could be wrong, but I bet I'm not.
