Marlins 2008 Schedule Released

It took awhile but it finally happened, the Marlins released the 2008 schedule.

The Marlins will host the New York Mets in a three-game series beginning Monday, March 31, 2008. The team released its full schedule Wednesday.

---

Among Florida's 2008 highlights are a 10-game West Coast road trip from July 3-13, heading into the All-Star Break, and home interleague series against Tampa Bay (May 16-18) and Kansas City (June 24-26). The Marlins once again will end their season against the Mets, as they travel to New York for a three-game series from Sept. 26-28.

I haven't had time to examine the schedule but a couple of things did standout.  Assuming my memory is correct, and it so rarely is, the Marlins will play Seattle and Oakland for the first time in the history of the franchise.

There will be 13 "Super Saturday" games and the majority of the home games will start at 7:10 p.m. instead of 7:05 p.m.  I'm not exactly sure the reason for having the games start five minutes later, but there surely is one.  Maybe.

Anyway, give it a look:

Oh, I almost left out the best part:

In addition, talks to move a Marlins home series against the Mets to Puerto Rico have been shelved.

Thank God.
