Mike Lowell wins the World Series MVP

And it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Drenched from the celebration in Boston's bustling clubhouse, Mike Lowell clutched his new trophy and broke into a sheepish smile.

He's much more than some throw-in on a Red Sox trade -- and he knows it. He's the World Series MVP.

I never understood why some thought Lowell all of sudden forgot how to hit after the 2005 season.  It didn't make any sense to me.

While I'm not thrilled with the outcome of the Series, I am very happy for Mikey.  Whether he likes it or not, he will always be a Marlin in my eyes.

Probably the thing about Lowell that best sticks in my mind was reported by Mike when he overheard a fan say this:  "Throw it to Mikey -- he hits everything."

Congrats Mikey!
