According to Juan Rodriguez, the Marlins are doing in-house interviews for the job.
Still may be a little while before the Marlins name their new pitching coach. They're in the process of interviewing in-house candidates this week. The group consists of bullpen coach Steve Foster, former Marlins pitching coach and current minor league pitching coordinator Wayne Rosenthal, Triple-A pitching coach Rich Gale and Class-A Jupiter pitching coach Reid Cornelius.
Also that former pitching coach Mark Wiley could be in the mix once the Rockies season is done. Which is absolutely no surprise whatsoever.
But just to make even more interesting, Ken Rosenthal pens this:
Leo Mazzone probably would prefer to end up with the Yankees if he leaves the Orioles, but the Mariners and Marlins could be two other possibilities. Mazzone's friend, former Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo, is a candidate to join the Mariners' coaching staff. The Marlins also have an opening for a pitching coach, and Mazzone knows manager Fredi Gonzalez from their days together with the Braves . . .
While I would welcome Mazzone with open arms, I'm not sure the....how should I say this.....the frugal Marlins organization could meet his price.
Apparently the in-house interviews are underway and the rest of it is just speculation. But I guess if you are going to dream -- Dream Big.
