Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Playoff Edition

Tonight starts the playoff version of Ichthyomancy and everything starts anew,  in other words, everyone is starting from zero.  There are no prizes for winning the playoff version, other than bragging rights.

It is a little different than the regular season version in that you won't be picking an attendance figure, since all games are assumed to be sellouts.  Instead of the attendance you will pick the winner of the game, a player of game (which can come from either team) and the usual Above and Beyond selection.  Kinda like the All-Star game earlier in the year.

And luckily we have a warmup contest between two very good teams to determine which one will get to knock the Phillies out in the first round.

Tonight it is the Padres vs. the Rockies.

The Padres starting pitcher is Jake Peavy.

The Rockies are countering with Josh Fogg.

Game time is 7:37 p.m.

Peavy is an All-World pitcher, one of the best in the game today.  If he doesn't go at least seven innings, it will be extremely rare.  Should you choose one of the fantastic Rockies hitters as your POG, you might want to consider making it a lefty since right-handed hitters have only posted a .164 BAA Peavy this season.

Fogg has come on of late and in his last six outings he is 3-0 with a 2.94 ERA.  He will need to keep the walks to a minimum but fortunately he is backed up by the excellent Colorado defensive.

The playoff edition of Ichthyomancy is ready to go. Your name will be added to list when you make your picks.
