Rotation to stay Intact

Well, maybe sort of.

Manager Joe Girardi indicated that Scott Olsen and Willis would likely get one more start before the season ends, but he isn't sure of his complete weekend rotation against the Phillies.

"I don't foresee it changing a lot," Girardi said. "We owe it to Major League Baseball to put the best possible team on the field. We will have a lot to say about who wins the wild card."

If Brian Moehler doesn't start Friday night, it could be left-hander Renyel Pinto or right-handers Yusmeiro Petit or Jose Garcia.

Olsen has past the "fatigue" mark of 175 innings.  Which is especially true since he has never pitched this many innings before.

Olsen has thrown 181 innings, so far this season.  He has thrown 174.2 for the Fish and 6.1 for the Isotopes.

It wouldn't break my heart if he missed his last start of the season.

Now, as for Dontrelle.  I still think he should start Sunday's finale and go for no more than three innings.  He should take the mound in the fourth, warmup, and then be taken out of the game to a hero's welcome by the fans.

The fans deserve that - Dontrelle deserves that.

Any variation of the above theme on Willis will be fine, just as long as the three inning maximum is adhered to.
