Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Phillies (9/23)

The Marlins are looking to even the series today.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Big Moe.  The Phillies plan to send Jon Lieber to the mound.

Game time is 1:20 p.m.

Moehler didn't pitch badly in his last three starts.  But when he pitches it requires the defense to make plays since his style of pitching puts the ball in play.

Lieber is a better away pitcher than at home.  His home ERA is 5.40.  Lefties are batting .300 against him at Citizens Bank Park.  He tends to give up runs in the early innings.

A Ryan Howard note:  he has hit 58 home runs so far this season.  The long standing NL home run record was set by Ralph Kiner at 54 in 1949 before McGwire and Sosa destroyed it in 1998.  With McGwire breaking it once again in the following year, then Bonds broke it in 2001.  This was during the so called "juiced" era.  I'm not going to get into that but the point is this:  Howard is doing something that has rarely been seen.

So in other words, walk him, we have seen it enough.

Ichthyomancy, hates day games, but is somewhat awake.  Don't forget to stumble to your computer and make your picks.
