Peter Gammons - Better News

Mr. Gammons has progressed from critical condition to stable condition and now to good condition.

It is wonderful to hear.

Peter Gammons, an ESPN analyst and member of the writer's wing of the baseball Hall of Fame, was in good condition Wednesday at a Boston hospital after surgery for a brain aneurysm.

The 61-year-old Gammons was treated at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after being airlifted from a hospital on Cape Cod, where he was stricken at his home Tuesday.

There is an obvious parallel between the hospital he is in and the one that the Roy Hobbs character was in, in the movie The Natural.

But I am not going to explore it since it would come off too much like a joke.  And this is no joking matter.

I hope his recovery continues to progress well.  I only have the Best of Wishes for him and look forward to him returning to his rightful place on Baseball Tonight.
