I have to be real honest in that I don't know what to make of this quote.
Girardi doesn't think trade rumors about Willis have adversely affected the pitcher.
"Sometimes when you sign a contract out of high school or college, you think you're gonna be there forever. It's something players have to deal with, but I don't think it's a distraction for him."
What in the world is Joe saying?
There are two possibilities the way I see it. Either he is talking in generic terms that young players are often shopped by the club and they need to get use to it. Or he is hinting that Willis is going to be traded and it is a part of baseball and he shouldn't let that distract him.
Either way, this isn't the most reassuring statement on the face of the planet.
