Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Rockies at Marlins (4/28)

The team has finished the first extended road trip of the season and they are finally home.

Not by coincidence the Rockies have also made their way to South Florida.

The Marlins will send Sergio Mitre to the hill while the Rockies plan to counter with Jeff Francis.

Game time is 7:35 p.m.

This will be Mitre's fifth start of the season and only his second in a night game.  Mitre's only win thus far in the season came in a night game in Houston.  We play far too many day games.

Tonight at the stadium it is Dominican Heritage Night.  The organization has a bunch of stuff planned.

The Dominican flag will fly in centerfield, and the Dominican National Anthem will be played prior to the game. For this special occasion, fans are encouraged to bring flags and bang drums as the Marlins bring a taste of the Dominican Republic to South Florida. The first 100 fans to visit the Marlins Fan Headquarters booth will receive a Dominican Republic flag and all fans will enjoy Merengue music during the inning breaks. In addition to all of this excitement, for each ticket purchased, fans will also receive an equal number of tickets to come watch fellow Dominicans Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz and the rest of the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, July 2.

Last year there was a Dominican Heritage night but I believe the matching ticket giveaway is new.  I guess they are doing anything to put people in the stands.
